Sitscape by Hackenbroich Architekten

The sitscape is a system for a lounge-landscape that is one metre wide and infinitely long. The simple construction principle of vertical sections connected by metal elements allows the configuration of different forms within this system. The sitscape will be sold by the “metre” and the costumers have the choice of various positions which can be combined in any sequence. The upholstery consists of a system of cushions that can be connected in multiple ways to cover the favourite zones of the sitscape.

Our prototype for the sitscape is six metres long. It has been developed for a specific user and is based on six basic positions which provide a perfect fit. Between these specific positions the landscape forms smooth transformations for unexpected uses. Consequently, the sitscape provides familiar possibilities for relaxing and the transitional areas between these positions invite for new and unexpected possibilities, which will be discovered by the clients.

The main structural elements are the sections, which are digitally cut out of laminated wood or composite material. The connecting structure consists of aluminium spacers between the sections and metal thread rods that go through the sections. The rods are tightened by wingnuts and give the structural stability. Diagonal tension wires are spanned through the inner void of the sections and give the stability against the torsion forces. The most visible form generating elements take the main vertical loads while the hidden metal elements give the support for the horizontal and torsion forces. The sitscape therefore is in one direction massive and in the other direction light and almost dissolved.

Reveal by Ku-Designs

The Reveal is a contemporary and distinctive coffee table that has been hand crafted from moulded birch plywood. The Reveal has been defined by the wood pealing away from itself exposing a vibrant colour that contrast with the natural wood veneer, forming a perfect space for storage. This distinctive opening is what creates the Reveals unique identity. Consumers will have the opportunity of personalising the Reveal, by choosing different types of wood veneers and also the colour for the interior opening. This gives the prospects of having a highly exclusive table.

Designspotter & Agency @ Pecha Kucha

Pecha Kucha Night was conceived in 2003 as a place for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. But as we all know, give a mike to a designe and you'll be trapped for hours. The key to Pecha Kucha Night is its patented system for avoiding this fate. Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each - giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show. DESIGNSPOTTER was asked to present ourselves at Pecha Kucha Night in Cologne/Germany, Dec, 19th, 2007. And as we had a lot of breathless fun we want to share our video with you.

5 Years of ARCHITONIC - IMM 2008

5 years of Architonic – an international success story Architonic went online in January 2003, punctually on the occasion of the imm cologne. At that year‘s exhibition the founding team around the two architects Nils Becker and Tobias Lutz together with the computer experts Thomas Navello and Dieter Schumann were to be found at a small stand, presenting their vision of architonic.com - their innovative new research portal for architects and designers.

What is Architonic ? Architonic is your independent work of reference for quality products in the fields of architecture, interior decoration and design. Our architects search worldwide to locate the best designer furniture, office furnishings, lighting, kitchens etc. For your planning you will find innovative materials and selected designs at our site.

Architonic Lounge And Party At The Imm Cologne 2008 At this year‘s imm cologne you are invited to celebrate our fifth anniversary with us. The 100-m² futuristic Architonic Lounge has been designed by architects Tobias Walliser and Chris Bosse, two outstanding young representatives of contemporary architecture.

Tobias Wallisser is a former partner in the UNStudio and project leader at the Mercedes Benz Museum, while Chris Bosse designed the Aquatic Center in Peking for PTW in Sydney. After major contributions to international projects implemented by prestigious firms of architects, the two have now launched their joint architectural office LAVA and are already involved in large projects in Dubai with PNYG:Company.

You are therefore very welcome to join us in our Lounge at the imm cologne in the corridor between Halls 10 and 11, directly above the east entrance. And be sure not to miss our great anniversary party, which begins at 17:00 hrs on 15 January. There will be no shortage of music or gin & tonic (proving that Architonic is a tonic in every way!). The Spanish Afterhour Party kicks off at 20:00 hrs in cooperation with SIDI at the SIDIspot, Marzellenstr. 43a, right next to the main railway station.

All the best for the next 5 years from the Designspotter Team!
