Evelyne Huytebroeck, the Brussels Minister of Environment and Tourism, last January launched a call to designers to participate in the third ParckDesign competition. By way of reminder, the aim of this competition is to encourage designers to imagine and conceive of innovative urban furniture to be placed in three green spaces in the city. 50 proposals have been submitted. The tendency for an international interest in this competition has continued: submissions have been received from the Netherlands, France, Germany and even Poland. From Tuesday, 11 March until Wednesday, 19 March at 12 noon, the public at large can choose the proposal they prefer and make comments on the website.

This furniture construction system is a system without limitations; there is no need for specific constructions or angles. The right angle is not all there is, curved and flowing forms can be realised. This patented furniture system uses hidden screws that can be dismounted at any time. With simply technic can be extended, rebuilt or cut shorter (freshly cut-to-size).

This year’s fashion exhibition MODEPALAST takes place for the sixth time at Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier from 17 until 20 April 2008. In one big fashion zone young Austrian and international labels present designs ranging from Street Couture to Urban Wear and High Fashion. Against the background of the EURO 2008 Austrian and Swiss designers show their ideas about football fashion through the project 11 Meter Mode.

‘Papercut” is the result of the collaboration between the architectural office dARCH Studio and the fashion designer, Yiorgos Eleftheriades. A place 90m2, located on the first floor of a two-storey building at the center of Athens, where the fashion designer exhibits his work. The need to synthesize the two different approaches to design (fashion design, architecture) was the focal point of this project. Concepts and practices used in fashion design (patron) were incorporated as organizational principles during the design and the construction phases of the project.

The ephemeral character was a wish of the client. Existing furniture were rearranged in order to bring into forth the two new constructions that were handmade, using eco –friendly (100% recyclable material) corrugated packaging carton and low cost OSB wood .The materials intended to emphasize the dynamic properties of the space, contrasting, in means of value and texture the materials used by the designer. The sense of packing ,as a reference to refurbishment, is spatially expressed. Synthesis 1.Trying to free as much space as possible, the existing massy furniture was suspended on the wall, where the tables became lightings, the book case turned into stand for coffee machine and display case. The wall was covered with corrugated carton in stripes, with the corrugated side of the carton on the front. As a result the furniture seemed as they were wedged in the cardboard. Synthesis 2 is based on the design of a biomorphic self-illuminating construction consisted of thousands sheets of corrugated carton. The boxes that perforate the liquid form, intensified with the use of built-in indirect lighting, produce display cases. The two dimensional material is transformed into a volume provoking visitors in free interpretation. Every construction in the atelier was made ad situ as site-specific prototype models.

The basis for "Sciocolà" project is the purpose of create a Luxury object that increase the value of wood and its sensuous qualities. Sciocolà seat invite you to live the downtime as a pleasure and a luxury moment. These feelings come from high quality of materials, manufactory care and the design that allude to the pleasure of the palate. Wood is the main character of Sciocolà seat and in this project can satisfy sight, touch and smell senses. The taste is explicitly remembered. The wood selected for the frame is beech, well-known for its endurance and workability features, veneered with precious species chosen for their appearence that suggest three chocolate flavours: Wengè/dark chocolate, Rosewood/ milk chocolate and Ahorn/White chocolate. Each "chocolate" cube is free and indipendent from the others. The user is invited to interact with cubes to genarate the movement and to caress their surface. The design make a difference: every "cool" factor is well connected with "warm" factors to get over messages, sensations and, above all, emotions.

This house creates a bridge between static furniture and educational playful objects. The house contains 12 blocks, which children can play with. Children between the age of 3 and 12 are able to design and build new forms.Older children can make those forms high in the sky and younger children can make new forms at floor level. Children can design for example; a spaceship, a race-car, 4 seats with table, an king-figure, a train and other many forms more.
