Monolith Tables

A monolith is a geological feature such as a mountain, consisting of a single massive stone or rock, or a single piece of rock placed as, or within, a monument. Erosion usually exposes the geological formations, which are most often made of very hard and solid metamorphic or igneous rock.
This project takes grand ideas and packages them in versatile interior objets d'art. Two occasional tables, cast in clear acrylic, offer surface and an innovative built in bowl for entertaining.

FELICITY - international graphic competition

Does graphic art have a sense in times of crisis?

Graphic art can be a tool for channelling a statement, to sensitize and propose new solutions, to transmit ideas, sensations and opinions.
Felicity aims at providing a contribution to reflection beginning from an anthropological vision and arriving at modern times, in the expectation of a future where the city can be a better place for self-improvement.

How can a city grow qualitatively?

More and more, other professional figures are capable of administering the image of the city through a deeper and more articulated approach.
The link between graphic art and the city is even richer, allowing to interpret the urban context as a grand score of notational signs, many of them being administered and generated by graphic art.

Deadline 31.07.2010

One Leg Down

The traditional kitchen chop block has acted as inspiration for the new and extremely simple pieces from Søren Rose Studio. The products are made from Danish pine, but it’s probably the orange stripe which captures the eye. The material is plastic composites which contrasts the humble wood. “the plastic composite only represents 5 percent of the entire piece, but appear as the largest and most demanding detail.” - Søren Rose about the design

Droplet Tables

Not for the type of applet in AppleScript.
A drop or droplet is a small volume of liquid, bounded completely or almost completely by free surfaces. A drop may form when liquid accumulates at the lower end of a tube or other surface boundary, producing a hanging drop called a pendant drop. Drops may also be formed by the condensation of a vapor or by atomization of a larger mass of liquid.
Liquid forms drops because the liquid exhibits surface tension.

By using new materials and digital fabrication processes, the students took on the challenge to set the perfect scene for the work of these designers. The concept consists of a three-dimensional cell-like structure beyond the classic notion of floor, wall, and ceiling.
