In March 2006, the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation will confer the International Bauhaus Award for the fourth time. The emphasis is on design projects that tackle the theme “Updating Modernism”. The International Bauhaus Award is directed at young designers and academics, irrespective of discipline and profession. Team entries are welcomed. Closing date for entries is 9th January 2006. Conditions of entry The competition is open to those born after 25 th March 1966, i.e., under 40 years of age at the time the award is presented. In team entries, this is applicable to all the members of the team. Only one entry per person or group is permitted. Persons or groups who, within the time frame of the competition, work either in or for the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation are excluded from the Bauhaus Award. All participants in the projects must be named in the project description.

Max Beer is the Berlin label for creative comfortable shoes. In the urban landscape, Max Beer shoes are inhabiting an ecological niche- sneaker on the outside, breathable and foot friendly on the inside. The current collection is crafted in Italy, in a family workshop in the mountains west of Florence.

In Italian boschetto means "grove". Here it designates a wardrobe of modular design which can also ( above all in ist used state ) serve as a screen or room partition. Made of varnished steel tubing, the individual module consists of a high rightangled frame and a stylised tree trunk that is fastened upon it. It´s up-wardly pointing truncated arms are for the clothes to hang on. Hinges make it possible to link together as many of these modules as you like. Pillows with 60s and 70s architecture. The disappearing landmarks of Berlin¹s postwar modern architecture are theme of the pillow collection "angry children". The name "angry children" refers to disrespect of the current generation for ist architectural forefathers. The pillows show building fronts which have already disappeared or will disappear in the future. The history of the single individual reveals that the deconstruction of t he architectural heritage is a recurring process. s.wert design conserves them on pillows, so that admirers of these buildings can still enjoy them.

The radiatorlamps are made of soft and heatresistant siliconrubber. this "sliced" structure also protects the lighttube, which is a soffitte-tube (like a long bulb). These handmade tubes emit a beautiful and warm light and the siliconstructure acts like a bodyguard to it, protecting and radiating its light and heat. The silicon is made in china and the lighttubes are handmade in switzerland. limited edition of 600 pieces.

A young girl from Zurich has started up her new Design-Project: ukiyo5 – accessories. An exceptional project. Sara Hochuli does not see herself in terms of a traditional designer. She sketches and designs products, interconnects them into a story and presents the whole issue in a visually strong world on her website.
