ROADSPOTTER in Edmonton: Geoffrey Lilge

Geoffrey Lilge who is probably best known in Canada and the US for the ground breaking work he did as founding partner and design director of Pure Design, a Canadian manufacturer of furniture and accessories, strikes out on his own at ICFF New York 2008.

He
introduced his new design consultancy, a number of table top items and several seating prototypes including a chair and lounge chair featuring solid maple frames with bendywood components, plus bent plywood and fiberglass seats and backs.

Lilge studied Industrial Design at the University of Alberta, where he teaches furniture design and is currently enrolled in the Masters program.He was a founding partner and design & marketing director of Pure Design a manufacturer of furniture and home accessories from 1994 to 2003.

Pure opened with partners, Lilge, Randy McCoy and Daniel Hlus as the only employees, but after three successful years they employed 30 people, had a product line of 75 different accessories that won numerous design awards.

He has worked closely with numerous designers; Richard Hutten, Karim Rashid, Constantin Boym, Scot Laughton, Shin & Tomoko Azumi, Stephen Burks, and many others.

L´homme 100 tetes

For the contest « Transformation : Live-React » Julien Lassort and Matthieu Burlot explored the human face, the most exposed and personal part of the human body. Their dynamic portrayal of “1000 and one faces” is a mosaic of portraits and emotions that plays off of the power of faces seen close up.
