One of the older more cultivated traditions at the Köln International School of Design is to send the graduates of the design department off with a great display and even greater festivity and to celebrate with them an exhibition. DS TV took a look around.

Bombay Sapphire opened a temporary gallery this June to showcase an exhibition of design objects commissioned by the premium gin. The 450 sqm exhibition space displayed timelessly elegant designs by major design industry names such as Tom Dixon, Karim Rashid and Eva Zeisel.

On this years´ graduation party of the Koeln International School of Design we met Prof. Dr. Michael Erlhoff. He told us some very interesting things about the brand new "Kölner Design Preis" which will be awarded on 6 November 2008.

Geoffrey Lilge is an Industrial Designer with more than ten years of experience designing furniture and home accessories.Co-founder and design / marketing director for Canadian home accessories manufacturer Pure Design Ltd, Lilge has worked closely with many international collegues.

Today in the morning, on Nov 6, the press conference for the very first Cologne Design Award (1. Kölner Design Preis) took place at the Museum of Applied Arts in the centre of Cologne. We already got back from the award ceremony tonight, so here you see some first impressions. A further video with the award winners and impressions of the gala will follow soon...

The first Cologne Design Award was given to the best graduation projects by design students and come with prize money of 45.000 Euros. The award ceremony took place at the Museum of Appied Arts in Cologne on November 6.
