Competition : Veltins Design Lounge

Cologne will celebrate design and design culture for an entire week. And YOU can be one of the exhibitors! You will be given an 85sqm exhibition space/playing field for the project “VELTINS Design Lounge” which takes place at the CONTAIN Gallery in the heart of the Belgian Quarter in Cologne.

Everyone can take part and try to convince the jury consisting of VELTINS, DESIGNSPOTTER and CONTAIN Gallery that their extraordinary idea is the one that should be “exhibited” in the Lounge.

The aim is to design the 85sqm exhibition space/playing field at the CONTAIN Gallery. The Lounge is supposed to convey a feeling of urban lifestyle. Furthermore, the Lounge should be mobile. That means it should be easy to assemble and take down again - it is quite possible that it will go on tour as part of a road-show through all of Germany.

VELTINS has assembled a construction kit, the contents of which should be used as the design elements for the Lounge. These elements are crates, bottles, crown corks, beer mats, blocks of ice and a whole lot more.

In addition, VELTINS will bear the costs of any extra material:The winner is granted a project budget in the amount of 1.500 Euro for any other extra materials that might be needed to design the VELTINS Design Lounge (e.g. paints, wallpapers, floorings, seat covers, lights, etc.).

And the winner will get a prize money of 1.000 Euro !

Duration of the competition: 01.12 - 31.12.2009
The jury will choose the winner from all submitted applications by 31.12.2009.

The Lounge will be constructed in the week of 11-17 January, 2010.
