CMYK Folding Electric Bike available @ Kickstarter

Brooklyness is a collaboration between designers and builders located in Greenpoint Brooklyn, NYC. Founded by lead designer Manuel Saez of Argentina, we are dedicated to creating efficient solutions for urban mobility.

“We live in the city; we work in the city; we ride in the city. See more of our work at brooklyness.com.”

Manuel Saez & Partners presents a new bicycle design for industry start-up Brooklyness: the CMYK 2.0. The CMYK 2.0 is an update to the earlier design for the CMYK 1.0, which received great recognition from the design community. The new CMYK 2.0 will be stronger and more powerful, but still compact and foldable–a great bike for urban commuters.
The CMYK 2.0 will be the perfect complement to public transportation. You can ride it from your home or apartment to the train or bus station.

Fold down the handlebars and seat to carry it on board. Ride it to your office, and fold it again to store under your desk or cube. A small bike for a small apartment, the CMYK 2.0 understands urban living. Because it runs on both electricity and pedal power, there's no limit to how far you can go on the CMYK 2.0. Achieve speeds of up to 16-20 KM/H (10-12 MPH).

Plug it into any 110-220 Volt outlet and get up to 50 minutes of powered riding. When that runs out, use your feet!

A Room for London

Sell out architectural installation on South Bank opens January 2012 A Room for London is a one-bedroom installation available to rent throughout 2012 and a programme of extraordinary events. The initial bookings for a night in this remarkable architectural space sold out within minutes when they went live in September. A Room for London is a major collaboration between Living Architecture and Artangel, in association with Southbank Centre. Designed by David Kohn Architects in collaboration with Fiona Banner, it was the winning entry in an open competition to create a room on one of the most visible sites in the British capital, where up to two people at a time could spend a unique night in an exemplary architectural landmark. They set out to create a visitor experience of dramatic contrast between public and private space: the familiar and domestic are all here, contained within this intimate structure, perched on one of London’s most public vantage points. Despite this, the visitors’ privacy is completely protected and it is they who are able to look out at London and the people below. A Room for London thus becomes an urban landmark for 2012. Kohn and Banner’s design shows contemporary architecture at its most playful and thought-provoking.

REK coffee table by Reinier de Jong

REK is a coffee table that grows with your coffee needs. When you have visitors, just get some chairs and extend the table any way you like. Built-in stops make sure you will not extend the sliding parts too far. Of course you can also put REK in a permanent position that fits your interior. The top and two sides of REK are white HPL and the edges are finished with your choice of solid wood: oak, berch or beech. The end grain side of the wood is beveled in order to get a grip: A subtle detail. The dimensions of REK table obviously vary with its configuration: 60 by 80 cm in collapsed state, its maximum lenth is 170 cm and its maximum width is 130 cm.
