A Lifetime for Architecture: The Photographer Julius Shulman

Shulman’s clients very much appreciated the fact that he always did justice to the architecture: be it in presenting the initially unfamiliar clarity of the architectural idiom of the International Style or by considering the respective surroundings. Yet Shulman always remained independent in his work and refused to follow instructions that contradicted his view of how the photos should be staged. By publishing his work in newspapers, trade journals and also in popular magazines from an early date he helped make certain that the various currents in architecture became accessible to a broader section of the general public than ever before.

Opening: 1 October 2005, 19.00 Lecture: 4 October 2005, 19.00

Auditorium of the DAM - Deutsches Architektur Museum
