Recently exhibited at Vessel Gallery's Animal Magic in London: "Swede Bodil Söderlund's ingenious re-incarnations of the loyal childhood teddy into an appropriate adult memento." (Angel Monzon) It started with the question "what happens to objects as we grow out of them?" The teddybear, as a global symbol of childhood, friendship and comfort changes its function with time from being an active, physical fabric of love into a passive carrier of memories and past times. The teddy moves out of arms and beds and into boxes and basements. My work reflects this change and creates a new object through sacrificing the original teddy.

Commissioning your own soft toy creates a sculpture that celebrates your childhood, or if you would need to, it provides a marvellous opportunity to smash it up.
