Traveling at the speed of light

The intimate scale of this candle flame illustrates the vast distances between the planets. As soon as this candle is lit, light also leaves the sun. About eight minutes later that light reaches the earth. Simultaneously, the candle melts to a corresponding point. As time passes and the flame melts past the other planets, the light from the sun makes its way outward into the vastness of empty space.
