THE WHEEL OF ENERGY

Dutch marathon runner Richard Bottram approached industrial design firm Studio Schrofer mid-2009, to design a treadmill for Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport to create an international platform to raise awareness and provide the opportunity to “run against cancer”. A complex combination of engineering, weatherproofing, security, safety had to be addressed to realize the 6 meter diameter construction in one of the world’s most busiest airports.
