Digital Origami Emergency Shelter

LAVA's solution to disaster is an origami cave. A scale model features in the Emergency Shelter exhibition in Sydney. The Shelter is a concept for an inhabited molecule. The base molecule can be shipped as a flat pack, and the interior can carved out of locally available materials. The project plays with ideas of prefabrication and personalised inhabitation, as well as stacking of multiple units. LAVA is Chris Bosse, Alexander Rieck and Tobias Wallisser.

Designer: LABORATORY FOR VISIONARY ARCHITECTURE (Australia)
Inspired By: Water molecule, Japanese Metabolist movement, prefabricated capsules as living space.
Material: scale model - plywood
Colours: lime green
Dimension: 2.4mc
