softwall + softblock

softwall + softblock modular system consists of building blocks and free standing partition walls in a variety of sizes, two materials and three colours. All elements in the softwall + softblock modular system connect together with concealed magnets in an almost seamless way with the vertical joints blending with the rhythm of the vertically pleated structures.

Northern Sky Circle

The molo studio was recently in Alaska participating in an event called FREEZE. In temperatures reaching -30C, molo built an ephemeral outdoor room from snow and ice; a place for contemplation, gathering and a heightened sensory experience of the winter sky. Ethan Rose, a Portland based musician, joined us in Anchorage and composed a complementary piece of music. Using snow and ice the beautiful music filled the space for a day.

black softwall

Using flexible honeycomb structures that expand, contract and flex to form sculptural spaces; softwall is an exploration of materials and space making. The elements of the soft collection have been designed to be used and reused in variable and dynamic ways; replacing the need for costly and inflexible alternatives for partitioning. Despite being made from sheets of paper, the honeycomb geometry lends the structures high strength and flexible resilience with an economy of material resource.

urchin softlight

softlight is an exploration to provide animate ambient diffusion using the energy efficient light sources of compact fluorescent bulbs and LEDs. The urchin softlight has a unique character that is irresistibly inviting and playfully interactive. The shifting organic form is akin to a sea creature with the piece coming to life with the play of light and movement.

textile softwall

Using flexible honeycomb structures that expand, contract and flex to form sculptural spaces, soft is an exploration of materials and space making. The elements of the soft collection have been designed to be used and reused in variable and dynamic ways; replacing the need for costly and inflexible alternatives for partitioning space. Despite being made from humble sheets of polyurethane textile, the honeycomb geometry lends the structures high strength and flexible resilience.

softseating by molo design

softseating belongs to molo’s family of expandable/compressible honeycomb structures. The name soft was chosen because the structures for all of these products are soft and flexible rather than hard and rigid.

The inspiration for softseating came from a desire for flexible and spontaneous space making.
