Adaptable System for Universal Living

A truly custom home should be designed based on its site, the owner’s lifestyle, and the project’s budget. To allow such customization while maintaining affordability and predictability, we’ve created a structural system of 30 rooms that can be attached in many configurations. Once the size and shape of the home is defined, then all material finishes and systems are entirely customizable based on the client’s preferences and the location’s climate.

Marron Glace

“In designing this kitchen we were inspired by the French delicacy "Marron Glace" The idea was to create kitchen cabinets made of reclaimed walnut floating in glass cubes. Our goal was to bring lightness and sleekness to highly crafted wood cabinetry. Just as any pinnacle gastronomic experience is also a visual one this kitchen celebrates technology and functionality with exceptional elegance and grace. The result we hope enhances the appetite and inspires culinary novelty”.

Link building

The existing structure occupies the entire street elevation of the Link. The 2nd floor addition now serves as the new world headquarters for [merz]project. Included in the addition is a 25kW solar panel system that will provide 100% of the building's power needs during off peak months.
Exposed concrete ceilings and polished concrete floors, warm and cool wood tones, expanses of glass and clean surfaces all accentuate the essential architecture that defines the Link.

Hoover House

The Hoover House, located in the heart of the historic neighborhoods of Downtown Phoenix, is a residential remodel which showcases a dialogue between the existing home, a 1920 Arts and Crafts bungalow, and the new 1400 square foot addition through experiences of thresholds, courtyards, and manipulation of light.
The Hoover House remodel was designed by [merz]project architects, who were awarded AIA's 2008 Home of the Year award in the residential category.
