Marcel Moving Bookcase

Why do we focus on designing solids when white space is so sparse?
The Marcel Moving Bookcase pays homage to one of the most important and influential contemporary artist of the last 100 years – Marcel Duchamp. Specifically referencing his piece, Bicycle Wheel [1951] our work aims to re-engage the the debates of: What makes a piece of art; is it the creator that decides; are context and location critical to arts existence; and if the owner of an object can co-create the piece.

Spindle Stool

Why do we still hide from our past?
Are we still at a point where we have to reject ornamentation for high minimalism? Are we only allowed to expose a bit of our past, a small sprinkling of today’s cultural mosaic, and to utterly reject the way that things use to be made? The Spindle Stool is a snap-shot of decorative minimalism and of what we think the contemporary heirloom could be – An artifact that can work in virtually any kind of environment and last over time … again.

Pod Table

What does a table do, hold, and have to look like?
The Pod Tables are an abstraction of a table, a vase, a bowl, memento and a magazine holder – Each Pod is supplied with 4 top inserts that are easily removed and replaced (a flat disk, a decorative floral pattern, a sunken bowl, or a deep narrow ‘tube’ vase). All Pods have off-set hinges that allow you to hide all of your aesthetic undesirables!

Covert Table

What is minimal ornamentation?
This line of tables pushes the boundaries of design eras; where they start and stop; and what colors, forms, materials and textures are considered to be timeless.

Picture Frame Lamp

Only art is allowed in a picture frame, right?
The Picture Frame Lamps are all about challenging conventions and assumptions; Question has asked: What is allowed to be in a picture frame? Are lamps strictly relegated to shine on art and picture frames, but never to be in housed within them? What about the enduring desirability of art and the publics’ participation in developing and using it?

Leaf Cabinet

What is a cabinet but a bunch of fallen trees that are stuck together?
This abstracted reality has lead Question to be true (poetically and visually) to the imagery that this statement conjures up. The Leaf collection references fallen trees in the forest, how bark peels off a tree over time, “randomness”, chaos, and how people love to decorate objects with luxurious forms, colors and materials.
