Grace chair for Living Divani

An essential structure which is completed with different covers, a kind of dress to choose depending on your taste, distinguishes the "Grace" chair by Giopato & Coombes. Now in its second year of collaboration with Living Divani, the Italian-English duo creates for the company a small collection of chairs that aims for the interchangeability of the bodyshells on the same structure, with the ability to play in time to differentiate the look of your environment of life.

Button Chair

The Button chair reinterprets the past in a harmonious blend of different compositional elements. The slightly curved seat and back have sinuous, rounded forms emphasised by padding that accentuates the thickness. “Pleating” enhances the chair’s generous shape and contour and lends a sense of three-dimensionality to the side panels by creating a delicate play of light and shadow.

The slightly curved seat and back have sinuous, rounded forms emphasised by padding that accentuates the thickness. “Pleating” enhances the chair’s generous shape and contour and lends a sense of three-dimensionality to the side panels by creating a delicate play of light and shadow.  The natural-wood structure is austere and linear, serving both to support and connect the chair’s main elements.

Bamboo table

Presented at Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2012 by Lema s.p.a. and designed by Giopato & Coombes, Bamboo table is composed of a metal tubular that twists itself following easy but forceful angles. The glass top completes the table giving him lightness.

Designer: Giopato & Coombes (Italy)
Manufacturer: Lema S.p.A. (Italy)
Material: metal and glass

Sissi Armchair

The Sissi armchair is constructed from bent tubular steel and expanded polyeurathane panels. We decided to design a comfortable lightweight upholstered armchair without polyeurathane moulding. A high tension fabric wraps around the metal structure to create complex three dimensional surfaces. As one approaches, the chair legs appear more and more verticle and when finally sitting the feeling is of importance, support and comfort.

Designer: Giopato & Coombes (Italy)
Manufacturer: Beside (Italy)
Material: tubular steel, expanded polyeurathane.
Colours: brightly coloured woolen felt and neutral leathers.
Dimension: width 75cm x lenght 65cm x height 71cm

Alfred

When designing this bergère we concentrated on the joining of square section wooden tubes, moving freely in 3-dimensional space. We wanted to bring this project to life via the balance of two forces that might give a kind of casual elegance to the project: the contrast between the structure, segmented and "schizophrenic", and the network. Self-production for "design-uncovered" exposition in Milan, Italy.

Designer: Giopato & Coombes (Italy)
Manufacturer: self-production
Material: maple wood, polyurethane, wool, polyester.
Colours: white.
Dimension: height 84 cm, lenght 86 cm, width 97 cm.

Bird on a Wire

Playing with a normally very serious archetype, the linear lamp. Freezing a moment of intersection between nature and man-made, recycling figurines retrieved from the tradition of ceramic bowls from Bassano del Grappa, Italy.
An instantaneous idea (and solution): this object represents the initial idea, a linear lamp electrified, a resting place for the birds on top, as is usually seen on electricity distribution lines.

Designer: Giopato & Coombes (Italy)
Manufacturer: self-production
Inspired By: nature, lamp archetype, handicraft
Material: ceramic.
Colours: white.
Dimension: 1120 mm lenght x 50 width x 40 height

Tomahawk

A floor lamp that takes advantage of three simple but very different materials. Concrete, wood and blown glass. Each material is used based on its primary characteristic, concrete as the base for its weight, wood as the shaft for its lightweight strength, and glass to filter the light. Each lamp can be removed and changed for other components to create polyfunctional objects, so depending on particular needs it can become a stool, a coffee table, a bistro table, a coat hanger.

Designer: Giopato & Coombes (Italy)
Manufacturer: self production.
Inspired By: Analyze the potential for traditional material in our culture.
Material: Concrete, maple wood and glass.
Colours: white.
Dimension: 89 cm x 102 cm x 210 cm.

Valerie

Chair made entirely in curved wood.
It wants to be the expression of the archetype of the sitting, both the material used and form. It doesn’t want to impress, but to fulfill its primary function: to welcome. The composition develops the contrast between the essential structure and the seat made of wood. Two languages have a function for each
specification: support and comfort. Two possible versions: with or without arms.

Designer: Giopato & Coombes (Italy)
Manufacturer: Miniforms (Italy)
Material: wood.
Colours: natural wood, lacquered in matt white, black, red or yellow colors.
Dimension: Chair: 52 x 75 x 52, Armchair: 56 x 75 x 52
