Animalia Toys

This project was a study in distilling iconic silhouettes to their most basic form while still remaining recognizable. The construction is from a softwood called Cedar, in both a natural and dark finish. The legs are pressure-fit into the body so they are secure but easily removable by a child. They are made from a medium-density foam with a faux leather grain texture.

No animals were harmed in the making of this toy set!

Right Angles

In geometry, a right angle is an angle formed by two straight lines that intersect at exactly 90 degrees. I love exploring dimension, and what comes across as a simple table is actual a painstakingly balanced series of abrupt changes in direction. Right Angles is a cocktail table and it measures 48x34x17"h. Constructed from cold-pressed steel and finished in matte black. Other finishes can be custom ordered.

Pick Up Planter

Pick Up Sticks is a game of physical and mental skill. A bundle of sticks are held in a loose bunch and release on a table top, falling in random disarray. It is the basis for Pick Up Planter, which marries an amorphic vessel with a seemingly random ring of rods. Finished in a glossy black lacquer with orange dowels. Stack'd Stones

The goal of this design was to create balance. Five flattened stones, haphazardly stacked, act as a pedestal base for a floating top. The possibilities are endless in terms of fit and finish. The base, measuring 42x28x29"h can be used by itself as a pedestal or small table. The client can purchase it with a glass or live edge wood top, at their specific dimensions.

Quantum Table

In physics, quantum is the minimum amount of any physical entity involved in an interaction. In theory, this energy can be absorbed and released, creating movement and tension.
Quantum is a dining table that interprets what the movement or path of subatomic particles might look like. Heavy gauge steel wire is hand-formed, then powder-coated black. This forms a pedestal base for a lacquered orange corian top.

Treforma Nesting Tables

Treforma is a study of diffusion and scattering; where surfaces can change in many directions, without the change in inherent nature of the components. Inspired by the Sunset Chapel in Acapulco, Mexico, by architecture firm BNKR Arquitectura.

The Prism Tables are named after the optical effect of light refracting off polished surfaces. Mimicking the facets of a precious gem, and creating flat highlights, midtones, and shadows on both lacquered and natural surfaces. The chunky yet slender table balances on a sturdy metal base. Precipitation is a project that speaks to the cumulus form of clouds. Thick tubes are pulled towards the ground and emulate streaking rain. A very animated look with bulbous forms, a severe cut atop to create a surface and thus a console table, and a whimsical color palette of glossy pastels.

Bamboo Twist Tables

In bamboo, as with other grasses, the inner regions of the plant stem are hollow and the cross sections are scattered throughout the stem instead of in a cylindrical arrangement. The woody xylem is also absent, which causes the stems to be columnar rather than tapering.

DIS & DAT Chairs

Bamboo's long life makes it a Chinese symbol of longevity, while in India it is a symbol of friendship. The rarity of its blossoming has led to the flowers' being regarded as a sign of impending famine.
Timber is harvested from cultivated and wild stands and some of the larger bamboos are known as timber bamboos. Bamboo used for furniture construction purposes must be harvested when the culms reach their greatest strength.
