The aim of the project was to give an otherwise considered waste product or material a second life by applying it to a different use. The U.K alone produces 500 million plant pots every year, which contributed to a lot of waste going to landfill. My design for a birdhouse utilizes the core function of the plant pot (to aid the growth of a living organism) and applies it to a different context. The perch is purposely shaped to look like a young flower shoot signifying growth.
