Essences bench
Developed in collaboration with betonWare, Essences is a bench combining scrap wood - from construction work, discarded furniture - and a concrete base. The elements are being held together by a mechanical process, and on the bottom part of the wooden seating traces from former uses are left visible.

Designers Anna Iwansson and Régis Lemberthe started collaborated as a&ré design with the envy to create objects that pay a tribute to nature, using the most stereotypical urban material : concrete.
The birdhouses they imagined clearly illustrate their point, while showing the subtlety that ensues from this paradox. Be it a house or a castle, birds are being given access to a strong roof for the winter.

Essences
Created by a&ré design, Essences is a bench combining scrap materials - in this case planks of wood leftovers from coal factories and remains of discarded furniture - and a concrete base. a&ré design has developed a variety of objects in concrete, from jewelry to lightning, birdhouses and tableware.

A&ré design specialise in creating objects in concrete and other original materials, as both unique pieces and small series.
Making use of the diversity in surfaces and the properties of each material, they experiment new ways of producing pieces following a rational process, whilst keeping each of them absolutely unique. In this sense, crafting and upcycling are an essential component of their work.
