Mapping teapot group

These pots are maps. The marks are intended to draw the viewer over the surface, they map the volume and exterior of the vessel, the journeys I've taken through the wallum and the creative process.

I want the percipient of these bowls to feel their way over the surface and through the wallum. I also wanted the pots to contain a secondary map of the cartographer (me!) and the day I made these pieces.

magnolia project-winter

Thrown porcelain bowls 5cm high, 7cm wide, Part of a year long documentation of a magnolia garden. These vessels are translucent and embedded with imprints of blossoms using water erosion.

Shannon Garson- Contemporary Porcelain

Shannon Garson began her career as a painter, completing a Bachelor of Visual Art from Queensland University of Technology in 1993. Her thrown porcelain vessels decorated with lively drawings are collected by regional museums throughout Australia.
