tubeBot & triBot by Kunsthochschule Berlin

tubeBot Pipe robot - the zero-energy solution for leakage detection and repair of urban drinking water systems.Cities all over the world are confronted with leaking water supply systems causing huge financial and environmental damages. In London, about three billion liters of expensively treated drinking water is lost daily. In 2006, water had to be rationed because of scarcity.

With conventional methods, monitoring and repair of leakages is not a viable solution. Almost the entire pipe network of inner cities would have to be dug up. Extremely high cost, traffic problems and noise and dust are some of the negative side effects.

tubeBot is an autonomous maintenance robot for urban drinking water piping systems. Through the quick and easy detection of leakages during normal operation, the out-of-time water loss in large cities can be significantly reduced.

Thanks to its intelligent functionality of using the existing pressure in the pipes, the tubeBot works without an additional energy supply.

This completely new,  clean concept ensures a more efficient management of water as a precious resource, which is also reflected by the clear design of the tubeBot.

triBot - glacier explorertriBot is a research robot which collects data for Science and Research in extreme environments such as glaciers and polar regions. In times of climate change these regions move into the focus of global research activities. In order to operate reliably in these areas, highly flexible movement patterns are necessary.

Thanks to its tetrahedral geometry there is no up, down, left and right for the triBot.

To move forward, the sides of the tetrahedron are varied, the balance point shifts and the triBot tilts to the side. With its highly specialized sensor unit the triBot collects important data for future climate models.
