Designspotter recently partnered with Interiors From Spain on a project to highlight some of the best and brightest of the Spanish design world. We were
excited to work with them on sorting through a myriad of strong work to select
our key favorites. From architectural chairs to brain-bending fruit bowls, the spirit of Spanish design seems to push at the boundaries of traditionalism in an attempt to fashion things that are both new and comfortingly familiar.

Cologne based architects Christian Hartmann, Christian Dieckmann and Robert Wetzels have chosen a very special location for their brand new office: The abandoned TV tower right in the center of city.

With the Museum Brandhorst, the Kunstareal museum complex has gained a significant new addition. In conjunction with the collection of the Pinakothek der Moderne, the multifaceted profile of modern and contemporary art has been expanded in an impressive manner.

Pixelhotel invites its guests to spend their stay in Linz residing in not-your-everyday accommodations - in a Pixelhotel providing a very unconventional sort of lodging. The individual rooms and suites are dispersed throughout the entire city.

Here, a room’s situated in an old storefront; there, it’s in a former workshop set on a backstreet courtyard. All over town, there are interesting but unused premises that are being converted into hotel rooms in conjunction with this urban development and architectural project. They’re in nice residential areas, downtown, industrial zones and working-class neighborhoods - after all, every part of town has its stories to tell and the Pixelhotel lets guests experience them right up close.

The three "Kranhäuser" (Crane Houses) in Cologne's Rheinauhafen present a free interpretation of El Lissitzkys' 1924 "Wolkenbuegel" and a new typology of high-rise building.

The newly completed "Kranhaus 1" offers the public not just a classical plaza in front of a cubic tower. The pure cube is far more sculpturally resolved and realizes its full volume beyond the ninth floor as a slender 70 meter long
horizontal projection and not as a vertical tower. The promenade leads straight
through the middle of the building.

With its dynamic shape and its association with the historical cranes in the former harbour area, the "Kranhäuser" stand as a symbol for the architectural commitment of the city at the water.

This year, a science exhibition in a show train will be touring Germany. The 300 metre long Science Express starts its seven month journey to more than 60 cities in Berlin on April 23rd. Twelve carriages showcase cutting edge science and technology in today’s groundbreaking fields including nanotechnology, life sciences or sustainable energy research.

In many cultures it is an old tradition to live on house boats. Many people feel the need to live close to water. A house boat is fixed in place and can be a permanent home. In areas with big water surfaces or in cities where property costs are high house boats offer an alternative.

It is important to us that we do not design block houses. We try to give our homes the right balance between design and maritime romanticism. The choice of material plays a big role.
