PRINCESS ELISABETH ANTARCTICA

The first ZERO EMMISSION Research Station

The Princess Elisabeth Station in Antarctica was officially inaugurated on 15 February 2009 in the presence of an international delegation of journalists and political representatives. The project, initiated by International Polar Foundation, was made possible thanks to the support of various partners, both public and private.

The completion of the construction is the result of two years of work. This "zero emission" station is a major accomplishment and sets a new standard for future stations. Moreover, Princess Elisabeth Antarctica is the only station to be entirely built during the International Polar Year.

What´s going on at imm cologne? Take a look at our gallery - action speaks louder than words.

Same for our Headquarter and the sensational DJ program from our friends ARTDiRECTORS! who came extra all the down from Belgium to party all night the Sixpack. Tuesday was exhibitors night: Joey Roth and Miron Lior worked hard at imm and partied hard at Sixpack with tons of cool sounds and a great atmosphere. Yesterday night we were very happy about our friends souleil and Fungkeibassbeton spinning gorgious vinyls - keep it real, folks!

Skateistan

Skateistan is Afghanistans first dedicated co-educational skateboarding school. The school will engage with the growing numbers of urbanised youth in Afghanistan through skateboarding and provide new opportunities in cross-cultural interaction and education. Students will be selected from a range of different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Student capacity will be developed in skateboarding, skateboarding instruction, project management, life skills and English. The aim of Skateistan is to develop a program that empowers youth to take leadership on issues important to them and build networks that will counter current ethnic barriers.
